The Guy Who Quit Before AI Could Fire Him

So this guy Travis was making about $75K a year doing audio production. Decent gig. Then he noticed budgets shrinking, AI tools creeping into his workflow, and when he got passed over for a raise, he quit. On the spot. At 30.

His logic: why wait for the layoff email when I can take control now?

He pulled $40K from savings and his 401(k), built an AI-powered analytics business called Spotbookr, and launched a beta within a few months.

He's not alone either. CNBC just reported that Americans filed 1.56 million business applications from November through January. Most in any three-month period since 2004. A lot of these new founders are saying the same thing: AI makes it easier to actually start something.

Here's what I think is getting missed in the "AI is taking jobs" conversation. The same technology that's threatening some roles is giving individuals the ability to build real businesses without a massive team or a VC check. The barrier to entry just dropped through the floor.

Travis saw the writing on the wall and decided to pick up the pen himself. I respect that.
